The tiny restaurant located at 2214 East 11th Street in the Village of East Davenport, seated 15-20 people. By 1977 the business had out grown the tiny building it was in. Work began in the late fall tearing down the old building and the new larger building opened for business in the summer of 1977. In 1976 Rudy's West opened in the former Sunset Movie Theater in the west end of Davenport, Located at 326 Cedar Street. Since the late 70's Rudy's business has grown to include 12 other locations in both Iowa and Illinois. Rudy's Tacos has 4 locations in Davenport, Rudy's East, Rudy's West (4th & Cedar), Rudy's North Brady St., and West Kimberly Rd. There is also Rudy's Tacos in Bettendorf on Devils Glenn Road, one located in Eldridge and Waterloo, Iowa. Dubuque opened a new Rudy's in September 2006. The Illinois Rudy's Tacos are; Rudy's East Moline, Rudys Moline, Rudy's Rock Island and Rudy's Milan. A new location will soon open (spring '07) in Coal Valley, Illinois. Rudy's Tacos East and West are still family owned and operated. After 30 years we still provide the best in family oriented Mexican dining at all our restaurants. Rudy's East Moline History Rudy's East Moline opened on December 15th 1980. We were the first Rudy's Tacos on the Illinois side to open. We were also the first Rudy's that was not family owned or operated. Rudy's East Moline Drive Thru We are the ONLY Rudy's in Illinois with a drive-thru ...the drive-thru was added in 1989 to better serve our customers. Of the 11 Rudy's ....there are only 4 that have a drive-thru ... the other 3 are Rudy's Bettendorf, Rudy's North, and Rudy's West Kimberly Rd. in Davenport.
